Persimilis (PERSIMILISforce™)
PERSIMILISforce™
Beneficial Phytoseiulus persimilis Predatory Mites for Spider Mite Control
PERSIMILISforce™ contains live Phytoseiulus persimilis predatory mites — a fast-acting biological control used for managing Two-Spotted Spider Mites and other Tetranychus species in greenhouses, indoor grows, gardens, nurseries, and field production.
These specialist predators feed exclusively on spider mites and are known for their ability to rapidly reduce pest populations under favorable environmental conditions.
Why Growers Use PERSIMILISforce™
- Targets Two-Spotted Spider Mites and other Tetranychus species
- Fast knockdown of active spider mite infestations
- Excellent for greenhouse, indoor, garden, and field applications
- Compatible with integrated pest management (IPM) programs
- Suitable for vegetables, fruit crops, ornamentals, hemp/cannabis, and nurseries
- Helps reduce reliance on chemical miticides and sprays
Target Pests
- Two-Spotted Spider Mite (Tetranychus urticae)
- Carmine Red Mite (T. cinnabarinus)
- Pacific Mite (T. pacificus)
How It Works
Under favorable conditions, Phytoseiulus persimilis populations can outpace spider mite populations rapidly. Adult females may lay up to 60 eggs during their lifetime, allowing predator numbers to build quickly during infestations.
Because P. persimilis feeds exclusively on spider mites, it is highly effective for rapid suppression of active outbreaks but less suitable for long-term preventative releases without prey present.
Optimal performance occurs between 70–85°F with relative humidity levels between 60–90%.
Instructions for Use
Gently rotate or tumble the bottle or vial before release to evenly distribute mites within the carrier material.
Release mites directly onto foliage near active infestations, concentrating applications around heavily affected plants. The included nipple cap may be used for slower, more controlled distribution throughout the canopy.
Because P. persimilis naturally moves upward, keep the vial vertical during application and gently dab mites onto foliage where needed.
Leave containers open within the treatment area for up to 24 hours after release to allow remaining mites to exit.
Monitoring
With diligent scouting, predatory mites may occasionally be observed moving through the foliage.
One of the best indicators of establishment is clean, healthy new growth with reduced spider mite pressure and webbing.
Advisories
- Best used for active spider mite infestations rather than preventative releases
- Confirm pest species before release, as P. persimilis feeds specifically on Tetranychus spider mites
- Cooler or hotter temperatures may reduce reproduction and performance
- Avoid incompatible pesticide applications before or after release
Storage & Handling
This product contains living beneficial organisms and must be handled properly.
- Do not store for more than 8 hours whenever possible
- Store horizontally at 55–65°F with moderate humidity
- Keep out of direct sunlight
- Release promptly upon arrival for best performance
